Hashtags do not behave the same way on every platform. Knowing the difference will save you a lot of wasted effort.
Instagram still uses hashtags as a primary discovery tool. Posts and Reels appear in hashtag feeds, so relevance matters. Use between five and fifteen targeted hashtags per post for the best results.
TikTok uses hashtags alongside its algorithm to categorise content. A mix of trend-based and niche hashtags works well here. Do not overcrowd your caption — three to six strong hashtags is enough.
Facebook supports hashtags but they carry far less weight. One or two relevant tags are fine, but focus your energy elsewhere on Facebook.
LinkedIn is useful if you sell to other businesses. Stick to three to five professional, topic-specific hashtags per post.
Pinterest works more like a search engine. Use keyword-rich hashtags in your pin descriptions to help shoppers find your products.
