How members choose
How a new member finds a gym in 2026
Four moments decide whether someone books a trial with you. Most clubs are strong in one or two and invisible in the rest.
- 01
They search Google and Maps
“Gym near me”, “reformer pilates Clapham”, “padel courts London”. Your Google profile, photos, reviews and class pages decide whether you make the shortlist at all.
- 02
They watch you on Instagram
They want to see the space, the coaches and the people who train there. A quiet feed or stock photos make a busy club look empty.
- 03
They ask ChatGPT
More people ask an AI which gym or studio to try. It answers from what it can read about you: clear pages, timetables, prices and reviews.
- 04
They book a trial
Then it comes down to a phone screen. A buried timetable, a clumsy hand-off to a booking app or a form nobody answers sends them to the next club.
What we have been building
Everything between the search and the first session
Content, Google, social, ads and websites under one roof, set up so you can see which of them brings in new members.
Lead tracking that tells the truth
Trial requests, class bookings, calls and WhatsApp taps are often not counted anywhere. We set up Google Analytics in an account you own, with proper consent, and track every enquiry and booking click.
Showing up in AI search
Clear pages for each class, membership and coach, timetables and prices that can be read, and FAQs that answer what people actually ask. It works for us too: most of Byter’s own enquiries in October came from people who found us through ChatGPT.
A Google profile that is looked after
Regular posts, class launches and events using real photos of your space. Google started rejecting posts with non-venue images this autumn, so stock pictures now cost you visibility.
Websites built around the trial
A clear first step on every page, a timetable that reads properly on a phone, waitlist pages for a new site or a full class, and offers that switch themselves on and off when they end.
One team, one monthly report
Content, social, Google, ads and the website handled by one team that talks to each other, with a monthly report and a direct line to the people doing the work.
Our work
What we actually did
A current club and the fitness brands we have worked with before, in plain terms.
Free, no obligation
Get a free Membership Check
A person on our team looks at the five places your new members are won or lost, and sends you a short, plain-English list of what to fix first. Keep it and do it yourself, or ask us to help.
- 1Your Google profilePhotos, posts, categories, hours and reviews, and how you compare with the clubs and studios near you.
- 2Your trial and class booking flowHow many taps it takes to go from your website or Instagram to a booked trial or class, and where people drop off.
- 3Your Instagram and first offerWhether your feed shows the space, the coaches and the community, and whether a newcomer can see a clear first step.
- 4Your reviewsHow many you have, how recent they are, and whether you reply. We never recommend incentives or review gating, which Google does not allow.
- 5Your lead trackingWhether trial requests, calls, WhatsApp taps and Meta leads are being counted, and followed up.
Tell us about your club
Your club name and website or Google listing is all we need to start. Add anything you would like more of: trial bookings, fuller classes, court bookings, new members after January.

Questions clubs ask
What is the Membership Check?
A hands-on review of the five places new members are won or lost: your Google profile, your trial and class booking flow, your Instagram and first offer, your reviews, and your lead tracking. A person on our team does it, not a tool, and you get a short, plain-English list of what to fix first.
Does it cost anything?
No. It is free and there is no obligation. If you want help with what we find, we will talk through options; if you would rather fix it yourself, the list is yours.
What kinds of fitness businesses do you work with?
Gyms, boutique studios, personal training brands and padel clubs, mostly in London. We currently work with Absolute Padel, and in the past we have worked with Matt Roberts Evolution, IronBody Fit and Move Strong London.
Can you film at our club?
Yes. Content days are shot on our own cinema cameras at your club, planned around your timetable, then cut into reels, ads and website video.
Do we have to sign up for everything?
No. Some clubs use us for content days and social, some for Google and ads, some for the website, and some for all of it. Monthly plans start from £750 and you can build your own on our pricing page.
Who owns the data and accounts?
You do. We set analytics up in accounts your business owns, so the data stays with you whoever runs your marketing.
